Sumati was born and brought up in Mumbai, India which is also known as the Financial Capital of India. She obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree with subjects in Accounting, Taxation, Finance and Economics from the University of Mumbai, India. She completed three years of internship in public accounting while pursuing a Chartered Accountants course in Mumbai and earned her Chartered Accountant (CA) certificate from India. She moved to the United States in 2011 to join her husband in Clemson, South Carolina and pursued further studies to prepare for her CPA as a career option and completed all four sections of the US-CPA exam. She received her CPA license from the California Board of Accountancy in 2014. She joined WMDDH in 2019 in the tax department focusing on individual and corporate taxes, tax planning for individuals and companies and tax returns for non-profit organizations.  

Prior to joining WMDDH, she had four years of US work experience in public accounting. She is certified to practice in Louisiana, and she is a member of the Society of Louisiana CPAs.

When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her son and family, listening to music, cooking, and travelling to tourist attractions.
